Bathukamma is a unique flower festival of Bellampalli Telangana, celebrated with great enthusiasm during the monsoon. In Bellampalle, it is observed on a large scale. Women prepare beautiful, layered flower arrangements that stand for prosperity and new beginnings. People from rural and mining families come together to celebrate. They take part in simple but meaningful traditions, such as dancing in circles around the flower stacks while singing festive songs. After the celebrations, the Bathukamma is carried to nearby ponds or rivers and respectfully immersed in the water. This festival strengthens community bonds and brings joy, unity, and cultural pride to everyone involved.
Sankranthi in Bellampalli is an important harvest festival that marks the end of winter and the start of the sun’s northward journey. People decorate their homes with rangoli, fly kites, and make Gobbemmalu with flowers. The three days—Bhogi, Makara Sankranti, and Kanuma—include bonfires, wearing new clothes, enjoying special food, and showing respect to cattle. Haridasu singers and Gangireddulu (decorated bulls) visit houses and perform, making the festival more joyful. Families also prepare tasty traditional snacks like til laddus and sakinalu, adding to the festive spirit.
